In case you missed a few games, here is my recap of the end of February, beginning of March …

The countdown has begun to learn who will be part of the series for the Stanley Cup!

  • Homecoming: Carey Price would have aggravated an old injury and will miss a few games of action …
  • At first, the Canadiens faced the Detroit Red Wings at the Bell Centre for their first game after the Olympic break!
  • Superb pre-game ceremony for medal (s): some members of the teams that won gold for Canada were on the spot!
  • 3-2 loss in overtime … I have rarely seen such a platform game!
  • The next day, CH crossed swords with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  • Two goals from Daniel Briere:  Wow This was pleased at all with this performance!
  • With Peter Budaj in goal again, the Habs won by 6-5 in a shootout. Great game!

Mega Trade February 28 : Jaroslav Halak , the former Canadian who played for the St. Louis Blues, was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for goaltender Ryan Miller and forward Steve Ott . It is yet traded two days later to go with the Washington Capitals!

The journey begins in the West:  The Canadian visited the Kings in Los Angeles. Budaj was once again starting goalie because Price was still not back.

  • Very good game with good intensity!
  • Finally score a goal, not his best Subban, but who still tied 1-1!
  • Despite the strength and determination, the Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Kings.
  • It was their first loss in regulation time in four games.

Busy day of transactions in the NHL: Big surprise – Marc Bergevin was able to get the most coveted in this day player  Thomas Vanek for his team. Bergevin has only yielded the future hope Sebastian Collberg to complete this transaction. Furthermore:

  • Captains Martin St. Louis and Ryan Callahan have changed address for New York and Tampa Bay, respectively;
  • Ales Hemsky has returned to Ottawa;
  • The Canadian also obtained the services of Devan Dubnyk (sent to Hamilton);
  • Former Habs defenseman, Raphael Diaz is now a member of the New York Rangers.

Day game against the Anaheim Ducks: Dustin Tokarski  was in goal instead of Budaj with Price still absent.

  • George Parros honored for this game against his former team. Nice ovation good people in the stands for this game!
  • Teemu Selanne was absent by reason of a virus.
  • Beautiful part: the Canadian wins shootout by 4-3!
  • The young Tokarski was solid: 42 saves for the kid who was making his first appearance in a shootout, in addition, against the Ducks! Nice introduction to the subject for Tokarski, to the delight of the Canadian and their supporters.

CH welcomes Thomas Vanek: The newcomer, Thomas Vanek, playing his first game with his new team against the Phoenix Coyotes.

  • It would probably preferred it two days earlier!
  • The final score was 5-2 for the Coyotes, their first win since 1998 against the Habs.
  • Former Canadian Kyle Chipchura finished his evening with two assists, and the third star.
  • The trip west ended with a die made 4-0 vs. the San Jose Sharks. This defeat hurts, but our team was ready to face the Boston Bruins … except that:
  • ! Bad news  Josh Gorges got hurt in his hand he had surgery last Monday. No minimum four weeks.
  • Thomas Vanek hoped probably give a better impression in the next games …
  • Regarding acquisition of another widely spoken Canadian,  Mike Weaver , I find it very good: he makes his job in defense!

Brandon Prust was making a return for Wednesday’s game against the Bruins villains! George Parros, have not played the last two games and has participated in the only victory in the West, should participate in this very important part, in my opinion! We went to 20 games before the playoffs!

Day game against the Bruins at the Bell Centre, and a snowstorm in Montreal: Francis Bouillon  was back after missing 15 of the last 16 games.

  • Parros was finally left out: I think a bad decision!
  • First game for Thomas Vanek at home …
  • Peter Budaj was still in goal for Canadian … and fans wondered: but where is Price?
  • 4-1 defeat of the Boston Bruins: a match below expectations!

Carey Price is finally back in front of his net and the crowd at the Bell Centre to face the Ottawa Senators!

  • Good start to the game for the Canadiens, who scored the first goal in front of a very lively crowd!
  • Spoil the game for the CH before surfacing a non-expected and dramatically …
  • Three goals will be counted in the third period to tie the game 4-4 to the Senators face! Four goals in total were scored by the Canadiens players in the course of 6 minutes and 26 seconds exactly!
  • Lars Eller  has finally found the back of the net after a long sleep – which may have launched the team!
  • Bouillon, against all expectations, scored the winning goal of the meeting, giving the victory to the Montreal Canadiens in overtime. A historic goal in the history of Canadian, and his first of the season!
  • After the meeting, Bouillon said this sole purpose, given the circumstances, was the most important in his career!  From 4-1 to win 5-4!

At Buffalo the next day: Ovation for Thomas Vanek, who was warmly welcomed in his old arena by supporters Sabres.

  • Carey Price resting at home: Dustin Tokarski in net for the Canadiens!
  • Still hungry from their game yesterday, the Canadian begins forcefully: Dale  Weise scored his first goal since its acquisition, the first of the game, giving his team the lead.
  • David Desharnais  had prepared the game for it and got an assist on the goal.
  • Tomas Plekanec has prepared a beautiful game for the young Brendan Gallagher, who scored the second goal of the match! Canada is 2-0 after 20 minutes of play!
  • Jonas Enroth had to leave by reason of injury, replaced by Nathan Leiuwen, the third goalkeeper Buffalo: a giant measuring 6 feet, 5 inches!
  • Tokarski was able to record his first shutout in the NHL, who did not give goals during this meeting. Final score: 2-0.

Four points in two games for the Habs! Next match: the Canadian awaits the visit of the Colorado Avalanche and Patrick Roy at the Bell Centre!

To the playoffs for the Stanley Cup! It continues tomorrow … GO HABS GO!
